FC Bayern Munich Becomes Official Sports Ally of Wunderbar Together
February 28, 2019

We are proud to welcome another renowned partner into the Wunderbar Together family – FC Bayern Munich, Germany’s premier football club. FC Bayern has become an official sports ally of the Year of German-American Friendship. This partnership will support and enhance our year of events across the United States.
FC Bayern will be part of the upcoming WanderbUS Tour, which kicks off its 50-city journey across the U.S. in March. The bus will stop at schools and colleges to bring a unique experience to young Americans. FC Bayern will support the WanderbUS by offering a variety of exciting activities and club content aboard the bus, including videos about the club and their youth academy, a highlight on star member Chris Richards, and a raffle to win a signed team jersey! The Club will also be present at the PopUp Tour at Daley Plaza in Chicago in April and May, alongside Siemens AG, another partner of Wunderbar Together.
“Sport plays a huge part in German culture, and success is not just measured in trophies but also through values such as team work, fair play and inclusivity; all of which help make a positive impact in society,” said Rudolf Vidal, FC Bayern’s President of the Americas. No other sport has captured the hearts and minds of so many across the globe as soccer.
In the US, soccer competes with American football, basketball, and baseball for viewership. An ever-growing and loyal fan base follow European and American soccer teams like FC Bayern Munich and FC Dallas, keeping our connection alive and strong. Soccer camps and fan clubs throughout the United States bring stats and lively debate about what happened on the pitch. FC Bayern’s contribution, however, stems not just from its success on the field, but off the field as well. The German powerhouse has played an active role in community engagement over the years, offering ongoing educational and youth development initiatives.
As Rudolf Vidal noted, “We are excited to be part of this campaign, taking our country’s culture to cities and towns across America to showcase the passion and excitement around soccer.”
“For years FC Bayern has been an important messenger for our country,” commented German Ambassador Emily Haber. “FC Bayern embodies the combination of Germany’s cultural cosmopolitanism with its regional roots – something that makes soccer so popular, too. Soccer is local and global. And so is the German-American friendship,” she added.
