Germany Week Opening Ceremony
April 30, 2019

Germany Week and the PopUp Tour kicked off this Friday with a series of events bringing people together to celebrate German-American friendship! The Opening Ceremony on Friday featured representatives from Germany’s political, cultural, and business sectors as well as musical and artistic live performances to give guests a glimpse of German culture, food, and business.
In addition to this jam-packed opening ceremony, guests got in touch with their inner sommelier and raised a glass to German-American Friendship with the first of three Wine Festivals as a part of Germany week. The festival featured wines from both sides of the pond that were red, white, bubbly, and everything in between!
In and around the tent, guests enjoyed music, games and food, talking with our sponsors and with one another about the importance of German-American friendship.
Finally, a vernissage kicked off the food photography exhibition “Mmm!” by famed German photographer Juergen Teller. Teller’s photographs took visitors on a culinary journey across Germany and demonstrated how young chefs are reinventing centuries-old traditions with their own take on German cuisine.
Miss out on Friday’s events? Don’t fret, Germany Week in Chicago is just getting started! Check out the full program on the Germany Week Website and find out more about this week’s exciting events! With the exception of the ticketed wine festival, all events are free and open to the public.
