This week’s story was written by Laura McKenzie about the compassionate medical care her husband received in Germany.
I had the chance to fulfill my very own ‘American Dream’ of becoming an au pair in a wonderful family of five amazing kids in Detroit, Michigan in 1996. We still keep in touch and their home was my second home for 13 months. I have been part of the family right from the very start and have learned a lot about American culture through my hosts. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. I’m an English teacher today, and I can pass on what I have experienced while staying abroad. Living in America has been one of the best things in my life!
