In both Germany and the United States, ensuring the representation of women is a major goal for ensuring common values like freedom, democracy, and inclusion. Including women in decision-making has led to important progress in all aspects of life and politics.

This year, Germany is celebrating 100 years of women’s suffrage. In recognition of this milestone, the European Academy for Women in Politics and Economy (EAF) organized the Women in Local Leadership series to empower women and encourage diversity in leadership.

Events were held in Washington, DC, Columbus, OH, and Berlin, Germany and featured insightful talks by local women in leadership positions. In Columbus, two winners of the prestigious Helene Weber Prize, Gabriele Off-Nesselhauf and Ye-One Rhie shared their experiences as women in leadership positions with women from the local community.
