The PopUp Tour Kicks Off in Atlanta with Music and Art
One of the centerpieces of Wunderbar Together is its official roadshow: the PopUp Tour. This traveling festival combines an impressive culture tent with mobile presentation modules and various flexible pop-up edutainment elements. Programs range from business conferences, science slams, art exhibits, and concerts to interactive student-focused events.
Following its first stop in Chicago’s Daley Plaza this spring, the PopUp Tour is heading south to Atlanta, Georgia for a week of event celebrating everything Germany right here in the US from September 24-28.
The week of events kicked off with a special vernissage of an exhibition featuring works by German designer and photographer Karl Lagerfeld entitled “An Homage to Lyonel Feininger.” Feininger, a legendary figure in the Bauhaus movement, is famous for his paintings of ships and cathedrals. In this exhibition, Karl Lagerfeld pays homage to Feininger’s lesser-known caricature paintings.
Following the exhibition, Berlin-based pianist Frank Muschalle, one of Europe’s most sought-after boogie-woogie musicians, performed a solo concert. Muschalle, who is known known for his superb technical fireworks and subtle nuance, became famous through piano battles with a number of other pianists. Since 2001, he has played in the Frank-Muschalle-Trio with former Mojo Blues Band musicians Dani Gugolz and Peter Müller.
The festival continues with more performances by Circus Mojo, a blank of vocational skills at the 2019 International Skills Conference, and a screening of the film “How to Make a Book with Steidl.” Stay tuned for more updates and find the full schedule here!
