President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Attend a Joint Concert by the Gewandhausorchester and the Boston Symphony Orchestra

On October 31, Wunderbar Together will celebrate the official end of the Year of German-American Friendship with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier with a joint concert by the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester and the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Boston.  This concert, the first of three, will be the first time that the two orchestras will perform together on stage.

Alicja Kwade Exhibition Opens at MIT’s List Visual Arts Center

Berlin-based artist Alicja Kwade will be opening her newest exhibition here in the United States with “Alicja Kwade: In Between Glances” at the List Visual Arts Center at MIT. Together with a concurrent sister exhibition in Dallas Texas, this is her largest US museum exhibition to date.

The Best of German Cinema Premieres in Los Angeles at the German Currents Film Festival

This October, Hollywood’s historic Egyptian Theatre will play home to the German Currents Film Festival, bringing the cutting edge of German cinema to a West Coast audience and screening everything from arthouse films to blockbusters and children’s movies. The centerpiece of the festival will be an appearance by renowned German director Andreas Dresen, who will open the festival with the LA premiere of his award-winning film, Gundermann.

Geometry of Light

Geometry of Light is a light-based art intervention by Luftwerk in collaboration with Iker Gil, which projects light and patterns both inside and on the grounds surrounding the Farnsworth House, a historic Bauhaus-inspired home located outside of Chicago, Illinois that was designed by renowned Bauhaus thinker Mies van der Rohe.

German-born artist and sculptor Hans Haacke’s work is being showcased at the New Museum in Manhattan, NY. This museum is exclusively devoted to contemporary art and is now a home for some of Haacke’s kinetic works, environmental sculptures and visitor polls of the late 1960s and early ‘70s.
