The 19th Annual GAIN Conference in San Francisco
August 19, 2019
From August 23-25, the German Academic International Network (GAIN) will hold its 19th annual conference, GAIN19, hosting over 500 participants from science, industry, academia, and politics in San Francisco, California. GAIN19 educates international researchers about opportunities for academic careers and funding in Germany. The conference is open to researchers from all disciplines, including students seeking Master’s and doctoral degrees as well as postdoctoral researchers.
More than 70 German universities, research institutions, and funding agencies will be on hand to discuss their programs and job offers with interested attendees. One-on-one meetings with representatives from these organizations can also be arranged here.
International Day, the day of the conference open to an English-speaking audience, will take place on August 24 and feature an international Talent Fair, which is the largest fair for scientific careers in Germany outside of Europe. There, attendees can visit 100 booths representing German universities, companies, and funding and research institutions in order to seek advice, gain new contacts, and meet potential employers in person. A full list of the organizations attending can be found here.
In addition to the talent fair, the conference features talks with speakers from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Research Foundation (DFG), and the American Friends of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AFoAvH), and more.
The event is free of charge, but registration is required. Find more information on the conference and how to register here.
