Lest We Forget in Kansas City

September 11, 2019

© Luigi Toscano

German photographer Luigi Toscano is doing his part to keep the stories and faces of Holocaust survivors alive all over the world. His journey took him to kitchens and living rooms in the United States, Germany, Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Belarus, Austria and the Netherlands, where he took the portraits of over 400 Holocaust survivors. These portraits have been collected in Lest We Forget, a photographic installation that exhibits large-scale prints of these portraits in public spaces.

As a part of Wunderbar Together, the Goethe Pop Up Kansas City is bringing 70 of these portraits, 7 of which were recently taken of survivors living in the area, to the National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City from September 20 to October 6.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. Find out more here.
