At the PopUp Tour’s most recent stop in Atlanta, more than 200 middle and high school students from local schools visited the PopUp tent for Schoolfest, a day of games, workshops, and fun!

One of these schools, the Fugees Academy, brought a class of excited students that was eager to learn more about Germany and STEM topics by participating in a BASF chemistry workshop, climbing aboard the WanderbUS, checking out a Discover Bauhaus workshop, and practicing their soccer skills on the Siemens goal wall!

The goal wall was a particular favorite for the Fugee Academy, which began as an afterschool soccer program for refugee boys and has expanded to a full, co-ed middle school that specializes in giving young refugee children the language training and academic skills necessary to prepare them for successful futures. It is the nation’s only school dedicated to refugee education.

At the end of the day, each student got a Wunderbar Together Schultüte, or “school bag,” which German children traditionally receive on their first day of school. These special, cone-shaped goody bags are typically filled with a combination of sweets, small toys, and school supplies.
