As the official roadshow of Wunderbar Together, the PopUp Tour combined an impressive culture tent with mobile container exhibits and various pop-up edutainment elements.

Programs ranged from business conferences, science slams, art exhibits, concerts or interactive student-focused events to panel discussions on future-oriented issues such as future of work, digitalization and sustainability.

With stops in Chicago, Atlanta, St. Louis, and Portland, the PopUp Tour showcased German business and culture in the U.S. and highlighted the close economic and cultural ties between our two countries.

WT PopUp Tour in CHICAGO

The first stop on the PopUp Tour took place from April 26th until May 5th, 2019 at Germany Week, which turned Chicago’s Daley Plaza in into an innovative showcase of German culture, art, science, and business. We were happy to host 21,000 attendees throughout the week and 3,800 guests at the opening ceremony on Friday, April 26th.

  WT PopUp Tour in ATLANTA

PopUp Tour continued with another multi-day event in Atlanta, Georgia! From September 24th to September 28th, visitors built, danced, cheered and celebrated the close ties between Germany and the southern US.

In addition to the usual cultural tent and shipping container exhibits, we were excited to be joined by two major Wunderbar Together touring projects on-site: Wiesn in a Box (a delicious touring German biergarten) and the WanderbUS, providing Atlanta metro school kids an opportunity to get excited about the German language!

WT PopUp Tour in ST. LOUIS

On Wednesday, October 2nd , the Wunderbar Together Popup Tour presented a Science Slam in St. Louis, Missouri, sponsored by Bayer AG and Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. In a moderated competition, two American and two German junior scientists performed against one another in a humorous TED-talk style battle!

Developed by policult with support from Fulbright Germany, this event was a huge success with over 130 audience members and a whole lot of laughter (and maybe a little science too)!

For PopUp Tour’s last stop, Wunderbar Together crossed the entire country, all the way to Portland, Oregon! Over four days, more than 8000 visitors came by the cultural tent and our many events at Pioneer Courthouse Square.

The BMW Group joined in on the fun, bringing along two decked-out cars with a #WunderbarTogether twist, innovative panels and events, and some really awesome (and exclusive!) retro posters.

The Wunderbar Together PopUp Tour is proud to cooperate with an impressive group of German companies: BASF, BMW Group, Siemens AG, Bayer AG, Daimler AG, Evonik Industries AG, SAP, Schaeffler, Allianz, Lufthansa, Lanxess, and Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany.
