The Day of German Unity is one of the most important federal holidays in Germany. Held every year on October 3, it celebrates the reunification of East and West Germany in the 1990s. This year is even more special, as we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall.
In recent history, many Germans have used media and the arts as a vehicle of expressing the impact the Berlin Wall and its ultimate collapse had on German culture. One prime example of this is Andreas Dresen’s 2018 award winning film, GUNDERMANN.
Wunderbar Together brought the Wiesn in a Box to the Denver Oktoberfest, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year! This annual six-day festival attracts over 250,000 people to enjoy German food, beer, and music!
On June 5, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Donald Trump joined World War II veterans and the heads of state of 13 other countries for a moving ceremony dedicated to those who stormed the beaches of Normandy. Adversaries in the war, the United States and Germany have since built a strong military partnership.
We’ve created a video highlighting the projects, places, and people that have made these six months so special and showcasing the many ways that Germany and the US are Wunderbar Together!
