The ISM Hexadome is traveling to the United States this year as part of Wunderbar Together. This immersive 360° audiovisual installation combines cutting-edge art and technology. It is the first step for the Berlin-based Institute for Sound & Music’s initiative to build a museum in recognition of sound, immersive arts, and electronic music culture.

[Video] Live Score of German Movie Classic @ The Potential Conference
As part of The Potential conference in Detroit three musicians came together at MOCAD, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, to score live a German silent classic for the public onsite. What ensued was a magical evening of audio-visual art where Detroit and Berlin, classic and new culture, synched their similarities and differences beautifully.

Music Workshop @ The Potential Conference
Nonprofit Detroit-Berlin Connection, dedicated to growing both the night economy and the creative industries in those cities that support it, held its sixth annual Detroit conference, The Potential, in March.
Part of the program was a hands-on workshop for students at Detroit’s Communication and Media Arts High School, showing them methods and approaches to making music and allowing the students to make sounds and rhythms of their own.

Julian Rosefeldt’s Manifesto is a multichannel film installation starring Cate Blanchett that uses excerpts from 54 political and social manifestos to create an immersive visual experience. This immersive exhibit can be viewed at the Hirshhorn Museum from now until January 5, 2020.

“Manifesto” on Display at the Hirshhorn Museum
This year, visitors to the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. can view German artist Julian Rosefeldt’s acclaimed multichannel film, Manifesto (pictured), at Manifesto: Art x Agency, a group exhibition that examines the art historical impact of artist manifestos from the 20th century to present day.

Berlin-based pianist Frank Muschalle, one of Europe’s most sought-after boogie-woogie musicians, took to the stage at Germany Week in Chicago to perform a solo concert. While warming up, Muschalle was joined on stage by Billy Branch, the harmonica player of The Original Chicago Blues All Stars, for an impromptu, improvised jam session!
Eliza Douglas Performs in Anne Imhof’s “Sex” at the Art Institute of Chicago
Acclaimed German artist Anne Imhof brought the newest manifestation of her exhibition, “Sex,” to the Art Institute of Chicago for three performances. Eliza Douglas, pictured, was one of the performers who brought the provocative piece to life.
The Potential
On May 21st, the Detroit-Berlin Connection hosted a conference entitled “The Potential” in cooperation with Your Mom’s Agency, Wunderbar Together, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, and the Goethe Institute Chicago. The exchange is the brainchild of Dimitri Hegemann, founder of one of Berlin’s original Techno clubs and a lifelong ambassador for the Detroit-Berlin Connection.
