For three days, students had the chance to partake in the world-class soccer training of Germany without having to leave their hometown in the US. The students learned soccer-related vocabulary and phrases in German and got to use them in an authentic and relaxed context while interacting with their German trainers.
While the US and German Women’s National Teams are both off to great starts at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, the national U-19 clubs faced off in an international friendly match in Fairfax, Virginia at George Mason University. Twenty-four German players made the trip to Virginia as they prepare for the final round of the UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship happening this July in Scotland.
Hertha BSC, the city’s premier soccer club, celebrated 30 years of unity after the fall of the Berlin Wall and advocated for a tolerant, open-minded world with the Tear Down Walls Tour through the United States. Before their game at Allianz field in St Paul, Minnesota, the Hertha players and coaches visited Twin Cities Immersion School, the largest school of its kind in the United States, to speak to classes and kick around with students.
Bundesliga Total Washington winners Guillem and Emily went on an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the FC Schalke 04 stadium in Germany. They met their soccer idols Hamza Mendyl and American player Weston Mckennie, and watched the Schalke v. Ausburg game after the meet and greet!
