German President Opens Historic Joint Concert in Boston Symphony Hall

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier opened a historic joint concert featuring Leipzig’s renowned Gewandhausorchester and the Boston Symphony Orchestra – the first of its kind featuring two world-class orchestras on a single stage.

The Potential Conference in Detroit
On May 21 the Detroit-Berlin Connection hosted The Potential music conference in cooperation with Your Mom’s Agency, Wunderbar Together, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, and the Goethe Institute Chicago. The exchange is the brainchild of Dimitri Hegemann, founder of one of Berlin’s original Techno clubs and a lifelong ambassador for the Detroit-Berlin Connection. Speakers from Detroit, Amsterdam, and Germany, convened to discuss the role of a nighttime economy in Detroit and the relationship between art and a city.

What ensued was a magical evening of audio-visual art where Detroit and Berlin, classic and new culture, synched their similarities and differences beautifully.
