Blickwechsel (Gaze Shift) establishes transcultural references between artists from the US and from the German city of Leipzig – all of them former artists-in-residence in the respective other country. The artists present their work in an exhibition that includes video, installation, conceptual art, photography, painting and graphics. The juxtaposition of artistic production from both sides of the Atlantic over the past ten years is intended to form a dialogue between the two cultures: Are there common themes that touch artists from both countries? Are there cultural differences in dealing with the foreign? What kind of exchange of experiences took place and how did it affect the artists’ work?
